Our friend and colleague Liberty Jaswal died on Saturday, June 23, as the result of a hit-and-run accident in La Habra, California. He had just completed his third year of study in our graduate program, and was one week shy of his 29th birthday. Though quiet, Liberty was a thoughtful student interested in a wide variety of philosophical issues. He was a caring and compassionate individual, deeply committed to environmental justice and human rights. He made many friends and found many admirers among our faculty, staff, and students. He will be sorely missed.
