Philosophy of Natural and Social Science

A second-level course on topics in philosophy of natural and social science. Intended for philosophy students and Science Studies students, but readings and discussion will be more centrally in philosophy than in the other course. We will cover three kinds of readings:

  1. Daniel Steele's new book, Beyond the Boundaries
  2. Julian Reiss's new book, Error in Economics
  3. Nancy Cartwright's relatively new book, Hunting Causes and Using Them
