Monica Bill Barnes, Muir ’95

While pursuing her degree in Philosophy, Monica Bill Barnes, Muir ’95, complemented her intellectually-challenging Philosophy coursework by taking as many dance classes as she could. She ended up with a dual major in Philosophy and Theatre. Fast-forward 16 years, and Monica is now the artistic director and choreographer of Monica Bill Barnes & Company, a critically acclaimed dance company, hailed for its witty and heart-felt physical magic. Monica credits her Philosophy education for teaching her how to think and articulate her ideas and for developing her as a human being and artist.
